Coast Guard rescues two kayakers near Charity Island on Tuesday | Local [Video]

MICHIGAN (WJRT) – The U.S. Coast Guard station in Detroit helped rescue two kayakers Tuesday evening in Lake Huron.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, Air Station Detroit received a report of two overdue kayakers. The Coast Guard launched the helicopter crew to conduct a shoreline search of Charity Island. During the search, the two kayakers were located and rescued.

Both kayakers were taken to Wurtsmith Air Base in Oscoda, where they were met by emergency medical services.

The Coast Guard says that the kayakers were reported to be medically stable when they transferred them to EMS.
