CoGTA to give update on disaster relief funds [Video]

Cooperative Governance Minister Thembi Nkadimeng will give an update today on disaster funds released to municipalities and provinces. This comes as the country is increasingly facing devastating floods, drought, extreme heat and wildfires. The Municipal Disaster Relief and Recovery grants were introduced in 2011 and 2013 for municipalities to respond to infrastructure damage and disperse relief funds. These grants are intended to fund emergency repairs to essential basic services infrastructure, provision of temporary infrastructure and humanitarian relief.
