LANSING, Mich. ( WLNS) — William Butler’s funeral service is scheduled for July 3 at 11 a.m., at Hillsdale College Christ Chapel.
The Hillsdale community came out Saturday to line the road, honoring the life of the fallen deputy as his body arrived in a police procession.
The 51-year-old husband and father of five was also a veteran of the United States Army National Guard and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
His squad car, on display in front of the Hillsdale sheriff’s office, has amassed a garden of flowers and balloons from people stopping to pay their respects.
A steady flow of food donations to the sheriff’s department are also flooding in–all of this, just two days since a traffic stop that led to a deadly shooting.
