Community leaders urging gun safety following accidental shooting that injured 2-year-old boy [Video]

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A two-year-old is still recovering after an accidental shooting outside of Center Point on Thursday. Authorities believe the child found a gun while in the car with his mother and shot himself.

Authorities are now reminding you and pleading with you to lock up your weapons.

As you know this is far from the first time we have had to report on a tragedy like this. Jefferson County District Attorney Danny Carr is passionate about the topic of gun safety and he was devastated to hear of the incident outside Center Point.

“Very frustrating. It did not have to happen,” said District Attorney Carr.

Carr’s foundation held a League of Gentlemen Unity Breakfast Friday. The hope is that the older generations could mentor younger members of the community.
