Community rallies for family of Morgan Academy teen killed in football accident [Video]

SELMA, Ala. (WSFA) – The community is rallying to support the family of an Alabama teenager who died over the weekend after suffering a brain injury while playing high school football.

Morgan Academy football player Caden Tellier,16, was rushed to a hospital Friday night for treatment but died from his injuries the following day.

In the wake of Tellier’s tragic death, those mourning his loss have taken to raising money for his family. GoFundMe confirms an account set up to cover medical and funeral expenses has raised more than $80,000 in two days. One anonymous donor provided $5,000 toward the $100,000 goal.

The Morgan Academy Senators, located in Selma, were playing the Southern Academy Cougars at home when the accident happened. Details on what caused Tellier’s injuries were not immediately clear.

At Edgewood Academy, students gathered Monday morning to pray for those at both Morgan Academy and Southern Academy.
