Construction worker dead after accident at Portland high school [Video]

PORTLAND, Ore. — A construction worker is dead after an accident at Benson High School, according to Ironworkers Local 29.

On May 30, just after noon, Portland Fire responded to a call about an accident at the Benson construction site. Samantha ‘Sam’ Deschenes was transported to the hospital, but two days later, she had a medical event while in the ER and did not survive, Portland Fire said. 

A witness who did not wish to be identified told KGW that Deschenes was crushed by a forklift and bled out. She was revived on-site by EMTs and put on life support.

“We have received the sad news that Sam passed today. Please continue with prayers, thoughts, good energy for her family,” wrote the union on June 1.
