Construction worker dead after accident at Portland high school [Video]

PORTLAND, Ore. — A construction worker is dead after an accident at Benson High School, according to Ironworkers Local 29.

On May 30, at 3 p.m. Portland Fire and Rescue (PF&R) responded to a call about an accident at the Benson construction site. Samantha ‘Sam’ Deschenes was transported to the hospital, but two days later, she had a medical event while in the ER and did not survive, PF&R said. 

A witness who did not wish to be identified told KGW that Deschenes was crushed by a forklift.

“We have received the sad news that Sam passed today. Please continue with prayers, thoughts, good energy for her family,” wrote the union on June 1.
