Several Cooling Centers available for Eugene residents to cool off during peak summer months

EUGENE, Ore — Temperatures are rising and it’s only expected to get hotter, especially in Lane County. 

For Eugene residents, finding a cool place to stay could be the key to getting through the summer. For some, air conditioning is not an option. Fortunately, there are places like the Campbell Community Center where people can escape the sun and heat, as Community Center Program Coordinator, Zane Wheeler can attest. 

He said, “We’re open Monday-Friday 8:30 until 4:30, available for folks to come, if they’re too warm without, if they don’t have air conditioner, we’re here all throughout the day.”

The Campbell Community Center is just one of five cooling centers in the Eugene area. Equipped with new HVAC systems and plenty of cool water, the center is ready to accommodate whoever needs to come in. Other …
