MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — The man accused of murdering his mother, cousin, and another woman in Manatee County Monday night had a history of domestic violence.

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said Javontee Brice died in a shootout with Hamilton County deputies after the killing spree.

Brice was posting on Facebook before each shooting.

The sheriff’s office said Brice was a father of 12.

In a risk protection order, detectives said Brice posted on Facebook “I love my babies. A lot of people don’t know what I’ve been through or going through but it’s the last draw [sic].” The order said 10 minutes after he shared the post, Brice arrived at an apartment in Palmetto with a gunshot wound to his side. The investigation revealed he shot himself. As a result, he was Baker Acted.

Brice’s sister told detectives he did something similar in Georgia in 2018, but claimed someone else shot him.
