Crews in Webster County working to clear storm debris from roads [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Webster County crews are working to clear debris that flooding carried onto roads this week.

“Crews came in extra days to do emergency repairs,” said Stan Whitehurst, the Webster County clerk. “They are also working today to remove storm debris.”

Whitehurst says the worst hit areas were the small community of Olga and state highway Z south of Fordland. Bell Springs Road is one of them, with flowing water and a tree washing the road away.

We spoke to one woman who lives in Olga who says she took cover Monday night.

“I took shelter and turned up the alerts on my phone,” said Debra Brown.

Brown says Sunday night’s fierce winds ripped the shingles off her neighbor’s home.

“When it rains like this, you can’t get over the bridge on Route Z. The Finley River gets too high.”
