After causing widespread damage in Bangladesh and West Bengal, Cyclone Remal has brought heavy, incessant rains to Manipur. A flood-like situation is prevailing in several districts, including Imphal West, Imphal West, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, and Ukhrul. Many other low-lying areas witnessed water-logging, causing considerable damage to the public and private property. In the wake of the flood threat looming large in the areas along the overflowing water level at Semai barrage in Kakching district, the Manipur Government has sounded high alert, calling out the Disaster Response Force. An alert has been issued in the low-lying areas around this barrage area as the shutter of this barrage is unable to lift due to a technical problem, while help has been sought from the concerned authorities to deal with the flood-like situation in Kakching district. The heavy rains caused multiple landslides across causing landslides at Phungreitang West.
