Day 3 of pro-Palestinian encampments continue on the campuses of UVM and Middlebury College [Video]

Anti-war protests at American college campuses have made their way to our region.Since Sunday, encampments have been held at both the University of Vermont and Middlebury College.At Middlebury’s encampment, organizers said there are about 70 tents as of Tuesday, as students and advocates continue to stand in solidarity with Palestine.They’ve also been hosting history sessions.”We’ve had Palestinian History 101,” said Windsor Smith, one of Middlebury Gaza Solidarity Encampment’s student organizers. “We had the historical coercion of Jewish people, with British imperialism especially playing a factor in that. we had pinkwashing.”Oliver Patrick, another one of Middlebury’s student organizers, said people plan to stay until their demands are met, such as their school cutting ties with Israel.However, for the encampments to continue, colleges are mandating that they need to stay peaceful.”There’s definitely an atmosphere of nervousness,” said Patrick. “On campus, administration has told us they don’t want to call police.
