Disabled Army veteran finds joy in taking part in adaptive sports [Video]

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – This week, a national five-day event in Colorado is giving disabled veterans a chance to overcome challenges and enjoy adaptive sports and recreation.

Rick Bogue is an army veteran from Brandon. When he was deployed to Afghanistan, he was wounded by multiple IED strikes. Despite a traumatic brain injury that left him in a wheelchair, he is grateful for the opportunity to join in on recreation that he loves.

“I’m kind of a unique Army Veteran. I enlisted and celebrated my 40th birthday in basic training,” Bogue said.

Bogue took a different path to serve his country and the result of his severe injury meant that there was a chance that life would not have been normal.
