Dji Bailey made his mark in UR scrimmage vs. Virginia Tech [Video]

The summer leading into his freshman year at UR, Bailey caught a lob pass back home in Wilson, North Carolina, and after the airborne reception, attempted a dunk. Bailey descended at an odd angle, braced his fall with his hands, and broke his right wrist.

He spent about two months in a cast and didn’t start practicing with the Spiders until mid-November of 2020.

While at UR, he experienced ankle and knee issues that cost him the opportunity for significant playing time, and a broken left hand did the same.

Richmond Spiders senior wing Dji Bailey originally signed with Wake Forest and changed commitments following a Demon Deacons’ coaching switch. 

“I’ve just had bad luck with injuries,” Bailey said.

Maybe this season, as a senior, Bailey will provide Richmond with the strong lift expected when he came to UR. He originally signed with Wake Forest and changed commitments after the Demon Deacons dismissed Coach Danny Manning.
