Domestic violence survivor advocate in Jackson taking state health job [Video]

JACKSON COUNTY, MI – AWARE, Inc.’s executive director is leaving her position to take a new job with the state of Michigan.

Angelita Gunn has decided to resign from her position as the Jackson nonprofit’s executive director to pursue a career as a project manager at the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services’ Division of Victim Services, she said.

Gunn first joined the organization in 2015. After being on the local level for many years, she wanted to return to working on larger projects that will serve victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, she said.

“I really appreciated my time here, I just decided I want to go back to larger, strategic and envisioning work that I did,” Gunn said.
