Driver rescued from pond by neighbors on Indy’s northwest side [Video]

Pike Township Fire told 13News the driver is expected to be OK. It’s still unclear why she went into the water.

INDIANAPOLIS — A woman is expected to be alright after she drove her car into a pond on the northwest side of Indianapolis early Thursday morning. Several neighbors came to her rescue.

13News spoke to the couple who helped pull her out of the water.

“You know the screech of tires when there’s about to be an accident. So, I looked out our window. The car hit the curb and went careening into the water,” Becca Baker said.

Baker and Matthew Simmons heard the noise around 2 a.m. April 4.

The woman drove her car into the pond near West 62nd Street and Georgetown Road.

“It didn’t really hit me until the submerged vehicle and someone flailing that I spring into action,” Simmons said.
