DSM Fire Department responds to fire at Old Main Apartments [Video]

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Fire Department extinguished a building fire Monday night near the corner of University Avenue and 23rd Street.

The fire began at the Old Main Apartments. The Des Moines Fire Department confirmed there were at least five people inside. All five people got out safely without injury, the department confirmed.

Authorities blocked off University Avenue as crews responded on scene. The avenue is now back open.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
