DVIDS – Video – Stay Off the Breakwaters at Presque Isle State Park

Weston Cross, coastal geologist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, and Matt Greene, park operations manager for the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Presque Isle State Park, provide a critical safety warning about the 55 breakwaters at the park’s beach in Erie, Pa., Mar. 27, 2024. The breakwaters, installed by USACE in 1993 to provide shore protection, are a crucial part of the stability of the beach system, but present dangerous hazards to people who try to get on top of them.
