Emergency training takes place at BIA | News [Video]

BANGOR–The Bangor International Airport was swarming with police, fire fighters, and emergency personnel as airport officials conducted a full scale emergency exercise on Tuesday.

Due to the airport’s runway rehabilitation project, there were no flights scheduled at BIA for most of the day, which allowed the staff the ability to create a realistic training scenario.

“We have asked all public to avoid the airport,” said the assistant airport director to a room full of emergency personnel. 

On Tuesday, Bangor International Airport coordinated with the city’s fire and police departments, as well as area hospitals and Red Cross workers, to simulate a full scale emergency exercise at the airport.

“We have seven ambulances in service right now; all of which are loaded,” one of the firefighters said to the group during the training.
