SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts covered 100 miles on Saturday in an effort to combat the growing opioid crisis in communities.

The sixth annual Emily’s Hope Poker Run and Ride for a Cause kicked off in the morning at J&L Harley-Davidson.

Emily’s Hope was founded by Angela Kennecke after the tragic loss of her daughter who was only 21 years old.

”Losing a child is one of the most devastating things that can happen to anybody. The mission of Emily’s Hope has helped me so much with my grief, knowing that we are helping other families out there. We have impacted lives with all of our programs, and that does really help me cope with the death of my own child,” Kennecke expressed.

The ride included five stops and all proceeds go toward Emily’s Hope’s mission to stop the stigma surrounding addiction.
