Family escapes house fire in Richland County [Video]

CHRISTINE, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Multiple fire crews are on scene of a house fire in Christine, North Dakota, which is about 25 miles south of Fargo.

Fire departments responded to the home two miles north of Christine just before 4:00 a.m.

Officials on scene tell Valley News Live that two adults and two children had to escape in the middle of the night. They are safe, but two dogs and a cat died in the fire.

The Christine Fire Department called for mutual aid from Abercrombie, Walcott and Colfax Fire Departments. Kindred Ambulance was also on standby. Richland County Emergency Manager Brett Lambrecht is on scene getting American Red Cross assistance for the family.

Emergency officials tell us the home was built in the 1800s, they are not yet sure what caused the fire, but the home is likely a total loss.
