Father shoots son during domestic violence dispute in Olmsted Township, police say [Video]

OLMSTED TOWNSHIP, Ohio – A domestic violence dispute turned deadly on Wednesday when a man fatally shot his 29-year-old son, police said.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner said Corey R. Varga died in the shooting. Police arrested Vargas 63-year-old father. Authorities said charges against him are pending.

Olmsted Township police were called about 9 p.m. for reports of a domestic violence dispute at a home on Homestead Drive between the 63-year-old man and his son.

The father told officers that his son attacked him with a baseball bat and that he shot his son in the chest. Officers found Varga inside the home with a gunshot wound to his chest.

Paramedics administered aid to Varga before they transported him to Southwest General Health Center, where he later died.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification is assisting Olmsted Township police with the investigation.
