Feds investigate IWU for allegedly ignoring antisemitism during October rally [Video]

BLOOMINGTON (25News Now) – Protests over the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas are sweeping through universities across the country. Now, Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington is under the microscope of the U.S. Department of Education for a discrimination complaint.

The criticism against the university comes after a protest last fall held by nearly 100 college students and members of the Palestinian community. They marched through IWU’s campus in support of Palestinians caught up in the conflict in Gaza.

The Editor-in-Chief of a college news site called Campus Reform filed the complaint to the DOE’s Office of Civil Rights on February 13 for not shutting down the protest.

Campus Reform is a project of the conservative-leaning group the ‘Leadership Institute.’ It acts as a watchdog to the United States higher education system.

The complaint says the campus display crossed the line of political speech into a hate-fueled attack.

It alleges that signs reading, “From the River to the Sea” supports the expulsion, and even genocide, of Israel’s Jewish inhabitants. Additionally, it rejects a peaceful solution …
