FEMA continuing work with Arkansas storm damage victims [Video]

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (KY3) – The Federal Emergency Management Agency is assisting tornado victims in Arkansas and Missouri after May’s tornadoes.

In Arkansas, FEMA District Six has five Disaster Recovery Centers open across the northern half of the state. So far, the agency has seen many people apply for assistance.

“We are expecting about 6,000 households to be able to register. We already have over 4,500 households registered for individual assistance,” FEMA Spokesperson Keith Jones explained.

After excessive damage to homes, businesses, and other properties, disasters were declared, and FEMA began to set up in the affected areas.

“Some of the FEMA assistance available is money for the damage not covered by your insurance. For those that have been displaced, you qualify for displacement assistance if it takes longer than a month to get back into your primary residence,” Jones said.
