FEMA says $102 million in grants are approved to help tornado victims in Texas.

They launched a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) on Wednesday, June 12 at Tarver Elementary school in Temple.

FEMA has $102 million in grants to help storm victims throughout the state of Texas. 

“It’s money that does not need to be repaid,” FEMA Media Relations Specialist, La-Tanga Hopes, said. “Further, if you’re on a fixed income and you receive income from some other type of governmental agency, there is no blowback with applying with FEMA.”

FEMA is offering assistance to home owners and renters both insured and uninsured.

Grant money can be used for basic home and car repairs, medical expenses, hotel rooms and more.

“If you need new clothing because your clothing’s messed up,” Hopes said. “If you need personal hygiene, if the baby needs items.”
