Fireworks safety tips before Fourth of July [Video]

SMYRNA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — We’re only a few days away from the Fourth of July.

Throughout Georgia, plenty of people will soon be celebrating with their own backyard firework shows.

However, if not used with proper precaution, Atlanta Fire & Rescue spokesman Anaré Holmes warns that Independence Day celebrations could go up in flames in an instant.

“We do a great job telling kids to stay away from matches but those little sprinklers and sparklers best to be used by adults,” he said. “Keep that same energy, as you don’t want your kids playing with sparklers.”

At the TNT Fireworks Supercenter in Smyrna, Zack Wagner was buying his fair share of fireworks on Sunday.

“We filled six carts,” he said. “So, we have maybe 30 or 40 of the bigger boxes.”
