PEORIA (25News Now) – About 140 city and community leaders gathered at the Gateway Building in Peoria Wednesday to share and gain insights on how to improve the city’s economy.
The Economic Development Forum was put on by the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council (GPEDC). The organization’s CEO, Chris Setti, said one of the goals was to make guests aware that the entire community has a hand at boosting economic growth.
“Everybody has a role to play in our branding, in our messaging, and how vibrant our community is,” Setti said.
Jay Garner, president and CEO of Garner Economics LLC, came from Atlanta, Georgia to offer advice on how to grow Peoria’s economy. All attendees received a copy of the book he co-authored called, “Economic Development is Still Not for Amateurs,” which breaks down economic development into easy-to-understand concepts.
