New security measures and features expected during this Sunday’s parade.
COLUMBIA, S.C. — The city of Columbia continues its planning and preparation for the Gamecocks championship parade on Sunday.
Harold Reaves, the special events coordinator for Columbia, said safety is a big priority.
“We will have a strong law enforcement presence both in uniform and plain clothes,” said Reaves. “Of course… we’re using all of our information points to make sure that we’re aware of any potential threats.”
Levi Wagner, a University of South Carolina student, also lives on Main Street. He said he would be attending the parade but had some concerns.”“I would say my biggest concern is the traffic and the parking situation”” said Wagner.””And just being able to get where I need to go without being interrupted by anything””
