GARDAI foiled a far-right plot to kill Leo Varadkar when he was serving as Tanaiste, it has emerged.
It comes as the former Taoiseach admitted that there were “a number of times” he was fearful for his own safety and he was advised “not to go home” on the night of the Dublin riots in November.
It has been reported that a gang of extremists plotted the assassination after Varadkar’s detail was cut down to just one officer when he stepped down as Taoiseach to allow Micheal Martin to take his place, according to the Irish Mirror.
