Gardner residents displaced by mid-morning duplex fire [Video]

Residents in one half of a Gardner duplex have been temporarily displaced by a mid-morning fire on Tuesday.Fire District #1 of Johnson County said that the fire was excellent proof in support of the “Close Before You Doze” campaign.On June 25, shortly after 8:30 a.m., fire crews were dispatched to the 400 block of North Spruce Street to a reported duplex fire. A 911 call noted that there was smoke coming from a bedroom.Units arrived on the scene to find a fire located inside of a bedroom. Firefighters used a water extinguisher to quickly contain the fire. There were no injuries related to the fire.The bedroom received extensive smoke and heat damage. The rest of the home only received smoke damage, and the connected residence was unaffected.While the residents were displaced, they have found a place to stay.
