COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Governor Henry McMaster held a ceremony in Spartanburg Wednesday morning where he signed two bills pertaining to transgender care and pornographic websites.

Both of these laws took effect on May 21 when the governor signed them into law. The ceremony serves as an opportunity for the governor and other legislators to speak publicly about them.

The first law, H.4624, has been dubbed the “Help Not Harm” Act, and it prohibits minors from undergoing gender-transition procedures, bans the usage of state and Medicaid dollars for gender-transition procedures and establishes a mandate that school staff must disclose students’ gender-identity information to parents.

Meanwhile, the second law, H.3424, is known as the Child Online Safety Act, and it requires age verification for pornography websites in an effort to prevent children from accessing them.

The ceremony took place at First Baptist Church North Spartanburg.
