Gracie Abrams is telling the whole story of the songwriting session with Taylor Swift that ended with “Us.” and a kitchen fire.

In a PEOPLE exclusive clip from an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music releasing at 1 p.m. EST on Monday, the “Block Me Out” singer, 24, admitted that the duo “drank a lot of alcohol” at dinner in New York City the night of the accident, which she documented on video and shared to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.

They were talking about their upcoming projects (Abrams was working on The Secret of Us, released on June 21 and Swift was working on The Tortured Poets Department, released in late April) and decided to go back to Swift’s apartment to play songs for each other.
