Grand Blanc Fire partners with Patriot Ambulance to service community | Local [Video]

GRAND BLANC, Mich. (WJRT) – An ambulance deal is in the works in the Grand Blanc Area, servicing both the city and township.

The never-before-done feat, according to Grand Blanc City Fire Chief Don Schreiber, this partnership could mean a rapid response for area residents. Paramedics and EMTs are doubling their life-saving measures by also working as firefighters during emergencies.

“About a year ago, I had a couple of ladies running across the street from the parking lot saying a lady had fallen and smashed her face pretty bad,” explained the chief. “It took about 20 minutes for an ambulance to get there.”

That’s when the chief tried to find a solution. He explained many first responder services are seeing staffing shortages out of their control.
