Great American Eclipse: Lebanon, Mo. elementary students experience their first eclipse [Video]

LEBANON, Mo. (KY3) – Kindergarteners at Esther Elementary got a first-hand lesson in eclipses.

Kim Fowler is their teacher.

”So I use social media to get ideas for creativity and things that we might want to just try out here at school. Why did you think it was important to teach the solar about the solar eclipse before they get to actually go,” said Fowler.

Students had safety glasses and a lesson on why they had to wear them.

“We’ve talked about when they put their glasses on how they need to make sure and keep their eyes protected by only looking through the lenses and not peeking above or below where light can come in, and about keeping those glasses on the entire time,” said Fowler.

It’s a day Fowler hopes the kids remember.

”I also feel like it’s important because it’s a part of history. These kids are making a memory here in kindergarten that they’ll probably remember for the rest …
