Hampton neighborhood seeks safety improvements at dangerous intersection [Video]

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – The Hampton Police Division responded to a two-vehicle crash in a residential area Friday.

An afternoon on the front porch sipping lemonade sounds ideal but what if the traffic outside your home is so dangerous you’re afraid to even sit on your front porch? That’s what residents have to say about the intersection of Shell Road and Greenbriar Avenue in Hampton.

A surveillance camera was rolling Friday when two cars collided. Two days later, there was another collision at the intersection next to Charlene Thompson’s home. Thompson showed 10 On Your Side pictures from the aftermath of Sunday’s crash.

“Here is a vehicle that has a man, a 4-month pregnant woman, and a 4-year-old child in the vehicle. They were hit right there because another vehicle, a truck, ran through the stop sign. They knocked over the stop sign that is sitting there in my yard,” …
