Heat advisory affecting part of Pennsylvania Tuesday and Wednesday [Video]

On Monday at 10:56 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a heat advisory valid from Tuesday 8 p.m. until Wednesday 8 p.m. for Franklin, Perry, Dauphin, Lebanon, Cumberland, Adams, York and Lancaster counties.

The weather service describes, “Heat index values up to 103 degrees expected.”

“Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events,” explains the weather service.

  • Stay hydrated: Remember to drink plenty of fluids.
  • Find cool shelter: Stay in an air-conditioned room.
  • Avoid sun exposure: Avoid direct sun exposure, protect yourself and check on vulnerable relatives and neighbors.
  • Child and pet safety: Do not leave young children and pets unattended in vehicles when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
  • Caution outdoors: When working or spending time outside, take extra precautions.
