High Point officers search for suspect after chase, crash, police department says [Video]

HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — Officers with the High Point Police Department are on the scene of a crash searching for a suspect.

FOX8 is told a call reporting a stolen Dodge Challenger and armed robbery in the 1300 block of Dartmouth Avenue came in at 7:12 p.m.

Suspected impaired wrong-way driver crashes into Greensboro police car in high-speed chase

Officers saw the Challenger around Eastchester and Deep River. They tried to stop the car, but the driver kept going, and a chase began.

At about 7:25 p.m., the suspect ran a red light at Wendover and Piedmont Parkway and was hit by a vehicle. The suspect then sideswiped another vehicle, police say.

No HPPD vehicles were involved in the crash, and no one reported any injuries. The suspect jumped out of the vehicle and ran.

The search for the suspect is ongoing at this time.
