Home damaged in fire in Spokane Valley [Video]

No one was in the home at the time of the fire, but two dogs were found unharmed in the backyard.

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane Valley firefighters responded to a house fire near North Campbell Road around 7 a.m. on Friday, August 16.

The fire began on the back porch and burned up the side of the house and into the home. Crews were able to extinguish the fire that was outside and enter the home quickly.

No one was in the home at the time of the fire, but firefighters found two dogs in the yard. The dogs were uninjured and Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Services (SCRAPS) was called to care for the animals until the owners could be contacted.

The fire in the home was contained and extinguished after crews created holes in the roof to allow for ventilation.

The house sustained smoke, fire and water damage.
