PICKENS COUNTY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A two-story house is destroyed after a fire broke out overnight in Pickens County.
It happened around 2 a.m. Sunday on the 300 block of Cherokee Forest Park Drive in the southeast corner of the county. Fire crews from Pickens and Cherokee County responded.
The Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services fire chief says the house was engulfed in flames when crews arrived.
No one was home at the time. Officials say a neighbor called 911 and reported the fire.
The house is a total loss. The cause is still under investigation, but preliminary evidence points to an electrical issue, according to the fire chief.
