GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – How internet addiction may affect your teenager’s brain — a lot of parents may want to hear about this news research.

We know how often kids and teens are online. This is looking into teens who spend lots of times on social media who complained of feeling like they can’t pay attention to more important things like homework or time with loved ones.

That experience we’re talking about is reflected in the findings of this study published in the journal PLOS Mental Health.

It found in teens with internet addiction, the signals in their brain which are important for controlling attention and memory areas were disrupted.

The study was a review of 12 neuroimaging studies of a few hundred kids and teens ages 10 to 19. They were scanned between 2013 and 2022.

Researchers say their findings are comparable to looking at people who deal with substance addictions.
