How to beat the heat [Video]

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The first official day of summer is bringing the heat. 

As the temperature climbs, service workers throughout the Triad told WFMY News 2 the work load does not stop outdoors. 

We asked Samet Construction how it prepares for the summer.  Todd Kiger is the Triad Regional Safety Manager he said the safety is a priority for Samset. 

He said to beat the heat, workers prepare in advance. 

“It all starts the day before really hydrating yourself, keeping plenty of fluids in you,” Kiger said. 

The construction company provides wellness centers for its workers. It consists of a tented area with fans and seats. 

This is all in an effort to prevent heat exhaustion and heat stroke. 

Dr. Alicia Beal with Novant Health said heat exhaustion includes: dizziness and feeling sick to your stomach.

 She said heat stroke is more serious and can cause confusion.
