Hurlburt Field to conduct hurricane readiness exercise this week [Video]

HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. (WKRG) — Hurlburt Field officials announced Monday that the 1st Special Operations Wing will conduct a hurricane readiness exercise this week.

The exercise will occur from Monday, June 3, through Thursday, June 6, “to maintain contingency preparedness.”

Officials said there will be an increase in emergency response activity and flight operations throughout the exercise.

The exercise starts just two days after the Atlantic hurricane season begins. The hurricane season includes the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico and occurs from June 1 through November 30.

The Hurlburt Field Facebook page will provide updates and information throughout the season.
