I-75 South back open after semi truck crash shuts down expressway for much of the day [Video]

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police confirmed that a semi truck rolled over on I-75 South during the morning of Saturday, June 29, halting and impeding traffic for several hours.

The incident happened shortly before 8:30 a.m. Traffic cameras from the Ohio Department of Transportation showed traffic backups near the I-75 and I-280 interchange.

Traffic was diverted to exit 210, Alexis Road, for much of the day.

According to ODOT, the semi truck was carrying steel coils before it crashed. Kelsie Hoagland, the spokesperson for ODOT, said oil and diesel fuel were spilled on to the highway, prompting a portion of the southbound interstate to be closed to traffic.

The EPA was on scene for cleanup, according to Hoagland.  

Traffic started moving again around 5:45 p.m. according to ODOT.
