I-84 crash near Wendell kills man [Video]

A head-on crash Wednesday night on Interstate 84 in Gooding County claimed the life of a 36-year-old man, police say.

The man was eastbound in the westbound lanes at 10:28 p.m. at milepost 157 near Wendell when his car collided with a semi-truck, overturned and came to rest in the median, the Idaho State Police said, while the semi-truck drove through the median, across the eastbound lanes, through a fence and came to rest on the frontage road.

The driver, who has not been identified, was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene, police say. The driver of the semi-truck and a passenger, both of them from North Highlands, California, were not taken to a hospital.

Traffic was reduced to one lane for about four hours. The Idaho State Police is investigating the incident.
