Idaho Department of Correction hosting job fairs for incarcerated [Video]

Categories
Rehabilitation

The job fairs will be for people who will be released in the next six months, with the first job fair happening in July.

The job fairs will help people connect incarcerated people to employers with hiring opportunities for multiple jobs, from trades to hotels, apprenticeships and entry-level jobs.

The Department of Correction also said that representatives from the Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Idaho Department of Labor will also be at the job fairs.

The Department of Correction also partners with Apprenticeship Idaho, a program that gives incarcerated people the chance to train, learn technical skills and gain experience.

According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, almost 600,000 people are released from incarceration every year in the U.S. The Department of Correction also says that data shows that 85% of human resource leaders that second-chance hired people perform the same or better than other employees, with 81% of business leaders saying the same.
