Idaho National Guard assists in hiker rescue outside of Stanley [Video]

BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Army National Guard Aviation Group on Saturday assisted Custer County Search and Rescue with a rescue of an injured hiker on Thompson Peak, outside of Stanley. 

Thompson Peak is located within the Sawtooth Range. It’s the mountain range’s highest peak, about 75 miles outside of Boise. It was there that the hiker, aged 19, was found on July 6. He had suffered an ankle injury following a fall while rock climbing, the Idaho Army National Guard said.

First responders helped transport the hiker to the Stanley Airport, where he was later transferred to civilian medical care.
