Increase in red flag gun law petitions filed in New Mexico [Video]

Video above: New data from ‘New Mexico Courts’ reveals an increase of ‘Extreme Risk Firearm Protection Orders’ filed by law enforcement over the past three-in-a-half years in New Mexico. So far, there have been 52 petitions filed in 2024 compared to three filed in 2021. A total of 47 petitions were filed by law enforcement in 2023 compared to 16 in 2022. Bernalillo County has submitted 33 petitions over the past seven months —the most out of all counties in New Mexico.
