INDIANAPOLIS — Swimming, racing and art – three Indiana passions brought together by local artists creating mementos of a lifetime for Olympic swimmers.

13 different artists designed multiple U.S. Olympic Swim Trials-inspired IndyCar helmets to celebrate Indianapolis hosting the Olympic Swim Trials.

Amiah Mims, local artist and owner of Works by Mimsy, was tasked with curating the project by the Indiana Sports Corp. 13 different artists to design two different IndyCar helmets each.

”I feel like each and everyone one of these helmets individually is a masterpiece in it of itself,” Mims said.

Mims designed two helmets herself.

”I just wanted to take the bottom of a pool and make it a fun pattern across the helmet,” Mims said, describing one of her helmets.

Fellow local artist Koda Witsken designed two helmets, as well.

”My goal was to tell different stories from angles and vantage points as a swimmer and as a viewer,” Witsken said.
