Injured Mets reliever to be evaluated by doctors | return ‘not close,’ says manager [Video]

NEW YORK — Concerns surrounding Mets reliever Brooks Raley, who landed on the injured list with shoulder inflammation on April 21, are growing within the organization.

Originally, the expectation had been that the left-hander would be activated as soon as he was eligible — on May 5 against the Rays in Tampa. That date has since come and gone with no progress being made.

On Friday, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Raley, 35, is “not close” to being activated off the IL.

“He’s going to go see Dr. Meister on Tuesday, just to make sure we’re not missing anything before we can take the next step,” Mendoza told reporters at Citi Field. “Whether he continues with his throwing or if we’re missing something here. He won’t throw until he sees the doctor and we get a little more clarification on it.”
