Injury To Downs Is A Mistake Colts Can Ill-Afford To Make [Video]

The Indianapolis Colts offense took a big blow on Wednesday, when 2nd-year receiver Josh Downs was tackled and injured during 7-on-7 drills by safety Nick Cross. 

Downs has reportedly suffered a high ankle sprain and will more than likely miss some games. It’s a blow for the Colts and Downs, who shined as a rookie and looked to play a big part of the Colts offense going into his sophomore season. For Cross, it’s a bone-headed mistake; contact in 7-on-7 drills is highly discouraged, and to not only take a teammate to the ground but also injure them during those drills is a worst-case scenario. Cross got appropriately chewed out by head coach Shane Steichen on the field after the play and has also been taking his lumps on social media as well.
